Mitchabrim LeChinuch – Bringing the Montovideo Community Together for Teacher Training

The vibrant community in Montevideo has two Jewish K-12 day schools (one secular Zionist and one Modern Orthodox) which, for 50 years, didn’t communicate or collaborate. Facing similar needs for a new generation of Jewish educators and increasing the capacity of the existing staff, the schools independently turned to the Pincus Fund, which helped them to navigate the complexities of joining forces, and then supported a joint project. With ongoing verbal and written communication and two site visits the Fund has continued to guide and support this project, which has an enrolment to date of eight students in the initial training course and is providing in-service training for 55 members of staff.  Six students have graduated and are teaching in the schools.
